KWOC2022 Project Review

I took part in the Kharagpur Winter of Code 2022, and I had an incredible experience. I'm Arghya Chowdhury, and I'm 18 years old. I am now in my first year of BTech in Computer Science. This was my first open-source hackathon, so I was super excited to take part in.

During the event, I solely worked on one project, called the "Travel Website." Because it was a front-end project, I utilized HTML and CSS to build a search bar for booking flights, as well as added various CSS effects and corrected a few minor spelling errors.

I made one pull request (PR) before the mid-evaluations, but due to inactiveness of the project admin, I could not get it merged in time. Later i closed the PR and made two new PRs. But they ended up conflicting so I had to made those 2 PRs again. The project admin merged both of them before end evals. She was inactive most of the time due to exams, so it took some time for my PRs to be merged, but it's okay I guess. However, the hosts of the KWOC event were very helpful and they and the project admin were able to clear up all the doubts I had in my mind.

In total, I made 2 PRs, 3 commits and coded a total of 409 lines, removed 4 lines. It was a great opportunity to learn and connect with new people, and I gained a better understanding of Git and GitHub.

Here are the links to the PRs:

Overall, it was a great experience and I am grateful to KWOC for giving me the opportunity to learn and grow. I am looking forward to more open-source hackathons in the future.
